Soft-services provider Chequers, part of the Churchill Group, has appointed Andy Hodgson as its new head of grounds.
Hodgson will be the senior internal contact for all grounds and landscaping queries, as well as managing relationships with key customers and generating new business. He’ll also take a strategic approach to identifying growth opportunities and ensuring that Chequers meet all contractual and health & safety requirements.
Hodgson comes with over 20 years of experience in landscape management, with expertise in handling complex contracts and optimising operational efficiency. He has worked in partnership with many high-profile clients, including local authorities, blue-chip companies, and volunteer groups. His oversight at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council led to them receiving the Britain in Bloom National Award (Silvery Guilt), as well as South & Southeast in Bloom Gold Award.
Hodgson’s financial acumen will be critical in his new position. In previous roles, he has secured long-term projects and ensured that they remained within budget throughout the contract duration. He also oversaw the development of a design and build service at London Borough of Bromley, which grew exponentially in the 18 months under his management.
Andy Hodgson, head of grounds at Chequers, said: “Chequers has a great reputation and I’m excited to be leading the grounds maintenance and landscaping teams. I thoroughly enjoy developing strategies and building strong client relationships and Chequers is the perfect fit. I’m looking forward to working with the team to identify growth opportunities and take Chequers to the next level.”
Naomi Childe, managing director at Chequers, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Andy to the team. His experience in landscape management and securing impressive contracts makes him a great fit for the role. We look forward to seeing him turn his talents to our own clients and helping them to create positive environments for their communities.”
