Wates Group and Lloyds Banking Group have formed a partnership to pioneer sustainable technologies in a bid to accelerate the built environment’s transition to Net Zero carbon.
The new collaboration follows the launch of the Wates Innovation Network (WIN) Portal in March this year, a first-of-its-kind and free to use network that connects built environment customers to market-leading sustainable technologies and services.
Both companies will work together to seek out new energy efficient innovations to form an elite network of green tech businesses, adding to the WIN Portal’s current network of 45 Innovation Partners.
The aim will be for the technologies to be piloted on their estate of properties, helping them achieve their operational pledges to reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions and water use. The collaboration builds on the businesses’ existing relationship, which includes a 10-year programme of fit-out works by Wates Smartspace across Lloyds Banking Group’s estate.
Dr Zainab Dangana, Wates Sustainable Technology Services Manager, said: “The development and launch of the WIN Portal was very much a collaborative process with our suppliers, our colleagues and our customers and it was always our intention to continue this partnership approach.
“Our vision for the WIN Portal is three-fold; we aim to boost our industry’s move towards zero carbon; we are committed to supporting emerging green tech businesses, many of which are SMEs; and we want to support our customers meet their carbon reduction commitments. Working With Lloyds Banking Group will undoubtedly strengthen the network.”
Wates’ work has included the introduction of a range of energy efficiency measures, which have formed a core part of Lloyds Banking Group’s sustainability response and climate pledges.
Scott Camp, Managing Director of Wates Smartspace, commented: “We have worked extensively with Lloyds Banking Group to deliver some exceptional fit-out projects, which have given us a lot of scope to enhance building efficiency.
“The WIN Portal is an invaluable tool to support building compliance and fulfil Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance strategies and I very much look forward to building on its success with Lloyds Banking Group.”
