LSE count on Shepherd FM
Published on 24/06/2014
Shepherd FM has added the world-renowned London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to its client portfolio after being awarded the maintenance contract for the iconic institution’s new Saw Swee Hock Student Centre.
The 12-month contract will see Shepherd FM provide Mechanical and Electrical services as well as fire and security services at the innovative central London property, awarded the RIBA London Building of the Year Award just this month.
The first new building LSE has commissioned in over 40 years, ‘SAW's’ dramatic sculptural form and unusual perforated brick facade design has already won praise from students, staff and architecture critics alike.
The pioneering building incorporates a range of academic and support services for LSE’s growing-community including the student union reception, a learning space, a pub, media centre, fitness centre as well as the offices that deal with residences, accommodation and the LSE Careers Service.
Part of the Shepherd Group, Shepherd FM has enjoyed sustained growth over the last few years including a 30% increase in turnover last year, as well as achieving 98% customer retention.
Darren Payton, operations director for Shepherd, commented: “The construction of this innovatively designed building represents a historically significant infrastructure investment by the London School of Economics and Political Science. We are extremely proud to establish this partnership at the start of such a critical and exciting chapter for them.
“Our London mobile engineering team, based out of our new high-spec flagship headquarters at One Euston Square, is ideally placed to service the needs of this new architectural icon.”
