International facilities management services provider OCS has been awarded a five-year contract with Birmingham Airport. Under the new contract OCS will deliver cleaning and associated services across the airport property portfolio.
Starting on 1st May 2019, OCS teams will take on responsibility for cleaning throughout the terminal buildings both airside and landside, as well as ancillary buildings including air traffic control, maintenance and office space.
The contract also covers pest control and hygiene, and winterisation activities. Part of the solution being deployed by OCS is a complete refresh of equipment, and introduction of the latest technologies including a fleet of multipurpose snow clearing vehicles.
John Wright, Director of Aviation and Gateways at OCS, commented: “Operating in an airport environment is always challenging in terms of dealing with peaks and troughs in demand, as well as ensuring that all customers who use the space enjoy a high-quality experience. We are excited to be working with the Birmingham Airport team and this win is testament to our solid experience in the sector, and our long-standing partnership with Birmingham Airport as a client.”
Deane Arnold, Terminal Operations Manager at Birmingham Airport added: “We are thrilled to be bringing the OCS team on board and were impressed with their creativity and flexibility in providing solutions suited to our business, particularly around the waste management provision. Our role is to ensure that passengers receive the best customer service while at the Airport and we’re confident in OCS’s ability to help us deliver that.”
Birmingham Airport is listed as the seventh busiest airport in the UK with more than 12.5 million passengers passing through in 2018. As the Midlands’ largest Airport, it serves more than 150 direct scheduled and charter routes.
