The CHSA’s tenth annual Pro-Am Golf Tournament raised £3,900 for the Chairman’s charity, the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB.  Combining this with the money already raised at the Gala Ball, the CHSA has now generated an impressive £14,000 for the RNIB this year.

“We’re delighted to have raised so much for our Chairmans’s Charity, the Royal National Institute for Blind People,” said Shaun Chatterton, CHSA Council Member and the driving force behind the golf day.  “Our members are always incredibly generous and this year was no exception.”

John Parrott, former Snooker World Champion and team captain on BBC’s Question of Sport took part and then entertained players and guests after dinner with stories from his years playing and time on the popular TV show.  

The evening was hosted by comedian Jed Stone and golfers and non-golfers alike were treated to a spectacular display of golf trickery by Tricky Rob at the beginning of the day.

Shaun continued: “Every year we try to raise the bar with the entertainment laid on for players and their guests.  Tricky Rob got the day off to a great start, involving players and our celebrity guests in his antics, while John Parrott entertained us at the end of the day with lots of funny, true stories from his life.”

Taking place at Oulton Hall, Yorkshire, with the support of the Yorkshire Professional Golfers Association, the annual Pro-Am golf tournament is a popular fixture in the calendar.  With a total of 20 teams taking part, six of whom were participating for the first time, the tournament was bigger than ever. 

“We were pleased to welcome more players than ever this year for some competitive fun on a really beautiful course,” concluded Shaun.  “There is little spare capacity now so if you want to join us in 2018, book now!”

The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) is the Chairman’s Charity for 2017.  The RNIB offers practical and emotional support to people who are losing their sight or are blind or partially sighted, helping them face the future with confidence.
