HOW ARE WE DOING? CHSA WEBINAR ADDRESSES MENTAL HEALTH DURING PANDEMIC

Everyone is facing challenges in the pandemic, from isolation to anxiety. In the cleaning and hygiene sector these are compounded by working on the frontline to keep workplaces clean and safe, and maintaining the supply of essential cleaning and hygiene products. The pressure is intense.

Acknowledging the potential impact on the health of people in the sector, the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA) is hosting a mental wellbeing webinar for members: How are we doing?

Date: Wednesday 3rd March

Time: 10am

Duration: One hour

Venue: Zoom

“Everyone is being challenged in the pandemic,” explained Lorcan Mekitarian, chair of the CHSA. “Whether it’s home schooling, blurred boundaries between home and work or missing friends and family, we’ve all had to adapt. Those of us in the cleaning and hygiene sector can add the intense pressure to maintain the supply of essential products and cleaning on the frontline.

“People are resilient. They adapt but mustn’t be taken for granted. It’s why we are hosting this important webinar.”

During the webinar, participants will have the opportunity to reflect on how they are feeling. Top tips for maintaining positive wellbeing through these challenging times will also be shared.

The key areas to be covered are:

  • The stages of a crisis.
  • How humans manage uncertainty and respond differently to crises.
  • Participants’ position on the pressure-performance curve.
  • The ‘stress container’ and warning signs in ourselves and others.
  • Self-care.
  • External support available.

The webinar will be delivered by Lisa Whittleton of Illuminate VR. A mental health first aider, Lisa has an MSc in Occupational Psychology and is a member of the British Psychological Society and the Vocational Rehabilitation Association.
