CHURCHILL RETAINS PARTNERSHIP WITH SCAS

CHURCHILL RETAINS PARTNERSHIP WITH SCAS

Churchill has retained its partnership with the South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS). The relationship began over a decade ago and now includes two successful re-tenders. The core contract is worth £5.5 million, and centres around the specialist Make Ready ambulance preparation services. The latest contract will be in place for three years with the option to extend further.

Churchill has been reappointed by the SCAS due to its Make Ready service. Prior to every shift, ambulance fleets are fully prepared with services including infection control, medicine being fully stocked, medical devices being checked and periodic clinical deep cleans. Make Ready services also monitor ambulance allocation, along with tracking the vehicles, refuelling them, routinely assessing, and auditing them. Depending on the operational needs, vehicle contamination after an infectious disease incident is also offered.

The tools and services Churchill provides give peace of mind for ambulance service providers and real time access to data and performance of the SCAS fleet. This ensures that patient safety and trust is at the forefront of all operations.

The SCAS is an integral part of the NHS’ daily operations, providing ambulance services across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and the majority of Hampshire. The widespread operations require swift and effective servicing to meet demands in emergency situations.

Rufus Fidgeon, operations director of Churchill, said: “We are delighted that the SCAS has decided to retain our partnership. Our Make Ready teams are incredibly hard working and were commended with the “Going the Extra Mile Award” in the 2022 Golden Service Awards, for their work with SCAS. Our employees went above and beyond to ensure the safety of SCAS’ patients in recent years, especially after the strain of the pandemic on emergency services.”

Julie Larner, operational partner for the South Central Ambulance Service, said: “Our partnership with Churchill and its Make Ready service allows us to provide exceptional and up-to-date care for patients. Their deep-cleaning and vehicle maintenance services keep our fleet ready to serve the public.”
