TRAQIT: KEEPING YOUR RECORDS CURRENT, ACCURATE AND CONSOLIDATED

TRAQIT: KEEPING YOUR RECORDS CURRENT, ACCURATE AND CONSOLIDATED

TraQit is the industry’s only real ‘interactive’ electrical compliance portal developed by Guardian Electrical Compliance Ltd (Guardian). The process and reporting system ensures at all times that records and schematic drawings are current, accurate and consolidated with a version history of change.

It is Guardian’s standard medium of reporting at no cost to the client, inclusive of editing, updating and integration of all certificated system changes.

From around 2004, as proven experts in the requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, Guardian was acutely aware of the general inability across our client base to constitute, manage and control electrical records ‘for the working life of an electrical system’. In-house maintenance teams and duty holders in particular didn’t and still don’t have the capacity, experience or qualifications to manage a regime of periodic inspection and testing.

This existential problem, coupled with the early days of the financial crash and the consequential cutbacks in maintenance staff, were the main drivers for the development of TraQit. This is an instrument that not only takes away the pain of document management for duty holders but also ensures a continuity of approach to record keeping during a time when key personnel are losing jobs.

The evolution of TraQit

The unique benefits of TraQit have become a major selling point for Guardian. The company currently has over 2,500 active clients, many of which are blue-chip organisations, who interact with TraQit on a daily basis. TraQit has been a major influencing factor in helping Guardian to retain 93% of its client base over the last three years.

In other words, after a three- or five-year programme of inspection and testing is complete, clients are happy to sign up for the next cycle of testing, knowing they are receiving the very best service in the marketplace.

Mindful of information issues and efficiency problems our clients experience on a daily basis, Guardian continue to evolve its service and has recently introduced QR codes to work in tandem with TraQit, allowing instant site access to current records and schedules.

QR Codes and TraQit – how do they work?

Under a Guardian electrical testing programme, QR codes are affixed to each distribution board. The user, be it an in-house maintenance operative or external contractor, simply downloads the free TraQit app to his smart device. Using the smart device camera, scan over the QR code, a window will appear requiring logon details; once connected, the most current report and DB schedule will open allowing instant site access for the relevant asset.

Other than the obvious practical benefits of TraQit and QR codes, the potential cost efficiencies to clients will be realised over the life cycle of the programme by the ability to evidence, through chronological record keeping, continuous monitoring and maintenance of the electrical system.

Serving the Industry - TraQit and QR Codes UK-wide

The challenge for any supplier of fixed wiring inspection and testing, serving demanding customers, is sustainability and efficiency of working. As a consequence, innovation is always at the forefront of the company’s thinking.

Enter its ‘Complete Managed Electrical Compliance Service’, the latest cradle-to-grave approach, which has become a 25-year ‘overnight success’. The service has evolved after considering continuous constructive client feedback, personal experience of HSE investigations, expert knowledge of practical compliance with EaWR 1989 and innovation using technology available in today’s market place.

The challenge for Guardian is always to exceed client expectations and deliver a class-beating service that also has the capability to evolve, based on future client requirements. A constant ‘wish’ from clients is the requirement for instant site access to real time accurate reporting information, for both maintenance staff and associated tradesmen. For larger organisations the efficiency of the service provided by Guardian and the associated cost benefits are monumental.

However, the barrier to overcome was linking the plethora of information available on TraQit, and access specific information for a particular distribution board via a QR Code, whilst working at the sharp end.

With access and permissions granted by client management to TraQit via the QR code system, different tradesmen can log on to real time accurate reports on site, ensuring a safe system of working, whilst at the same time reducing what could otherwise be an endless search for existing records and drawings in order to undertake their particular task. The time and money savings are immeasurable.
