OCS wins major contract with Royal Papworth Hospital

Contract worth £17m over five years

OCS has won a major soft services facilities management contract with Royal Papworth Hospital (RPH) in Cambridgeshire.

The contract will see OCS deliver a range of services, including cleaning, catering, portering, and security, when the newly-built site on Cambridge Biomedical Campus opens to patients in autumn 2018. The contract – worth £17m over five years – represents another significant win for OCS in the sector, with the company having recently secured a number of a major healthcare contracts both domestically and internationally.

Petra Moss, Managing Director for OCS Healthcare and Education, said: “We are incredibly privileged to support this new chapter in the history of one of Europe’s leading hospitals. We know we play our part in enabling clinical excellence and every member of the team will be focused on improving the patient experience. This win is testament to OCS’s expertise and exceptional standards in healthcare environments.”

RPH is one of the largest specialist cardiothoracic (heart and lung) hospitals in Europe and includes the country's main heart and lung transplant centre. Over the last three years, it has performed the highest number of heart surgery procedures in the UK whilst achieving the country’s lowest cardiac surgery mortality rate.

The hospital, which gained Royal designation from Her Majesty The Queen in 2018, treats more than 24,400 inpatients and day cases and sees more than 73,600 outpatients each year. Papworth Hospital’s services are internationally recognised and include cardiology, respiratory medicine, sleep medicine, cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery and heart and lung transplantation.
