STARTING A NEW BUSINESS THIS SUMMER? HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Published on 29/09/2022
It is always a thrilling moment when you realise that you have the tools that you need to turn your big idea into an operating business. There are so many people out there who have a concept, and there are so few who actually have the skills, the tenacity, and the ingenuity to bring it to life. However, it is clear that anyone who is looking to start a company right now is going to be in for a rocky road. There has been plenty of doom and gloom in the news recently, so here are a few tips for any first-time entrepreneur.
Know your competition
Every market sector has had a tough time over the last couple of years, and as a result, the markets have become fantastically competitive. If you are launching a new company, it is essential that you do your research into the other companies operating in the same space. Find out where other small businesses are struggling, like supplier customer service for example , and start brainstorming solutions. Remember that a lot of them will have had more than two years of experience with this new digital normal, so pay close attention to their online strategies and social media presence.
Get good advice
Most entrepreneurs will want to go it alone to some extent, but this is such a delicate time for your business. It is so important to talk to people who have experience of either going through this journey themselves or helping people through it. This is a time when you should be making use of your professional network and sounding people out on your strategy and branding ideas. You can also save yourself a lot of time on the admin side by using a company to help you incorporate and register your new business. Future Strategy works with its clients to address their individual needs and has been helping businesses since 2011.
Make sure you’re covered
Something that a lot of business and limited company owners tend to forget is that they need to plan for a rainy day. No one wants to think about something going wrong with their financing or with their own health, but you do not want to find yourself out of pocket or facing heavy costs because something has gone wrong. If you are starting a new business or limited company, then you should absolutely look at business insurance. This can be a lifesaver in the worst-case scenario.
Keep an eye on your mental health
Starting a new company is one of the most stressful things that anyone can do. You are going to be spending a lot of time working out of office hours and stressing over every single detail. With that in mind, you need to think about what you can do to look after your mental health. There have been a lot of stories about burn-out recently and it is important to remember that if you push yourself too far, then you are not going to be able to do your best work. Make sure that you factor in some downtime and look for ways to step away when you can.
