Anabas Publishes Second White Paper

Anabas Publishes Second White Paper

Corporate Office FM specialist, Anabas has published its second in a series of white papers, exploring the evolution of agile working, entitled, ‘Hot-Desking; what does it mean for Facilities Managers?’

Following on from last year’s paper, ‘What Type of Office Worker Are You?’ this second instalment focuses on the importance of Facilities Managers and their role in making hot-desking work. It also looks at how hot-desking can impact on other areas of the business such as HR and IT, and offers practical advice on managing the challenges that implementing this flexible approach to working can bring.

The agile environment has many nuances and FM’s have a key role to play. They are responsible for practicalities of liberating workers from the traditional office space set-up and also the ongoing maintenance of a positive culture and the hard earned social capital which can often be at risk when the status quo is disrupted and you’re presented with  some of  the hidden challenges related to hot-desking such as; connecting, rightsizing, retrofitting and engaging.

How each of these challenges influence the success of a hot-desking program are examined in the whitepaper, and recommendations for how best to approach each of them are provided. Ultimately, we see why the skills of a Facilities Manager have become irreplaceable when organisations try to mobilise the workforce.

“For many, hot-desking has become the cornerstone of corporate culture”, says Anabas MD, Alistair Craig. “It can improve productivity and reduce running costs, it can be liberating for staff and can rejuvenate the role of the office. But it does not come without its challenges. Our white paper really focuses on the practicalities of implementing this form of activity based working (ABW) and how working in a collaborative manner can positively impact on the introduction of hot-desking across businesses, saving both money and improving interaction and communication between workers.”
